Effects of Heroin Abuse among Youth is the theme for a special program to be offered by the Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) on March 29, 2016 in Muncie, Ind. The Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) is one of several community partners encouraging community-wide participation. This forum is for youth workers, counselors, care providers and the general public.

Staggering Statistics: Nearly 75% of our clients are impacted
According to the IYI, “Heroin overdoses are increasing in local Indiana communities and this epidemic is bringing devastation to families and killing children and young adults at staggering rates.”

“Because of the debilitating impact of substance use disorder in the community, the YOC has adapted its therapeutic programs to assist the youth and families we serve,” said Carol Ammon, customer relations director. “Nearly 75% of our clients have been clinically impacted by substance abuse as a result of their own addiction issues or through a history of issues within their family.”
