15 Jun Muncie Chamber Names Kelly Stanley as a Legacy Award Recipient

The Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Kelly Stanley will be recognized as the 2018 recipient of the Chamber’s Legacy Award.
The Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s Legacy Award is presented annually to an individual who has made extraordinary, sustained, and positive contributions to the Muncie-Delaware County community, and who has provided leadership in the development of programs, events, and/or new traditions that promote good will and community pride.
“Kelly Stanley has been an important part of this community for many years and we are pleased that we will have the opportunity to honor him with the Chamber’s Legacy Award,” said Chamber President Jay Julian. Chris Caldwell, Chairman of the Muncie Chamber Board of Directors said, “It is an honor to recognize Kelly Stanley’s contributions to our community by awarding him with the Chamber’s Legacy Award. Through his leadership at the US Chamber of Commerce to his involvement with numerous local boards (and most recently his successful capital campaign for the YOC), Kelly has always committed his energies and labors to making Muncie and Delaware County a better place. We are excited to recognize his legacy to this place we all choose to call home. Kelly represents what this award is about and I’m excited that we can do this to honor him and his family.”
Stanley is a graduate of Burris High School, Miami University and the Indiana University School of Law. Upon graduation from law school, he first taught at Indiana University and then returned to Muncie to join the Muncie law firm now known as Beasley Gilkison. After 10 years with the law firm, he joined Ontario Corporation as Vice President and General Counsel. Stanley retired as Ontario’s President and CEO in 2003.
After retiring from Ontario, Stanley became President of the BMH Foundation and then President and CEO of Cardinal Health System (the parent company of Ball Memorial Hospital and Blackford Community Hospital) before Cardinal Health’s merger with Clarian (now known as IU Health), a position from which he retired in 2009.
Stanley was a Director and Chairman of American National Bank and currently serves as a Director of Old National Bancorp headquartered in Evansville. He also served on the board of directors of Maxon Corporation and Florida Chemical Company.
Stanley is a former Chairman of the Board of the United States Chamber of Commerce. Stanley was also Chairman of the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and served on the board of the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce. Very active in many community organizations, Stanley recently led a very successful capital campaign for the Youth Opportunity Center.
Past Chamber Legacy Award recipients include: Dr. Jo Ann Gora; Van P. Smith; Stefan Anderson; Mary & Cornelius Dollison; Dr. George Branam; J. Allan Rent and Jack Buckles.
Stanley will be honored at the 2018 Legacy Gala scheduled for Saturday, August 25, at The Horizon Convention Center, Muncie.
The Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce has been serving the community since 1894.
