13 Apr TRU Harbor Program Receives Prevent Child Abuse Award
The Youth Opportunity Center was honored recently for their commitment to child abuse prevention in East Central Indiana. Dr. Katrina Mallory and Assistant Director Lindsay Price of the YOC’s TRU Harbor program received the Certificate of Appreciation award presented by Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) of Delaware County on April 5, 2018, at Muncie City Hall.
Each year, Delaware County PCA sponsors a Candlelight Vigil to recognize the success of this county’s interventions to help children and their families and to honor those children who have died as a result of abuse and neglect. Awards were given to four organizations and individuals in our community who have made a difference in these efforts.
The YOC’s TRU Harbor program provides comprehensive treatment and evidenced-based therapeutic services to commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC) and sex trafficking survivors.
“We are humbled and honored to receive the Certificate of Appreciation award from Delaware County Prevent Child Abuse. We accept this award on behalf of the Youth Opportunity Center, our TRU Harbor staff and the young ladies we serve,” stated Program Director, Dr. Katrina Mallory.
April is Prevent Child Abuse Month; all citizens, businesses, civic groups, faith groups, health and medical facilities, schools, and public agencies are invited to lend their hands, minds, and hearts every day in the fight against child abuse, stopping the chain of abuse “before” it occurs. Preventing Child Abuse is everyone’s responsibility.
PCA of Delaware County is a chapter of Prevent Child Abuse Indiana™ whose motto is “making Indiana a better, safer place for Indiana’s most precious resources – our children.” For more information about the Candlelight Vigil or Prevent Child Abuse Delaware County, contact Prevent Child Abuse of Delaware County through Facebook or send an email to delawarecountypca@gmail.com.
